Unique
IDentification
UID is the "Unique
Identification"
marking
program the Department of Defense now requires on specified tangible assets
for the purpose of tracking them through their useful life.
It
means that manufacturers producing equipment purchased by the United States
government meeting certain requirements, such as an acquisition cost greater
than $5,000, will need supply the equipment marked for UID
compliance.
Manufacturers are going to need parts to be marked and a variety of tags
and nameplates made from metal, plastic and anything else that will stand
the test of time.
The Engravers Journal has developed this new website dedicated to UID marking. Our mission is to be the leading source of information about the U.S. Department of Defenses new UID program and about UID-compliant marking and labeling.
