DOT PEEN MARKING—OVERVIEW

Dot peen marking utilizes a computerized machine which has a percussion-type punch called a "stylus" that makes its mark by punching into the substrate a series of dots delineating the mark, which can include letters, numbers, logos, graphics and a UID 2D matrix. Dot peen marking of metal relies on the indented dots having a different color or contrast level due to differences in the reflectivity between the indented dots vs. the reflectivity of the surrounding surface area.
