The following program (CreateADMx, on-line version) allows you to create your own UID Data Matrix code, using your custom-supplied text. The code, so produced, should be fully UID compliant if you follow all UID regulations and conventions in inputting your text.

When creating a UID code, you can try changing several user-definable parameters, allowing you to modify the code so as to optimize it for different marking methods and for use on various material substrates.

When you're finished, you can copy the finished Data Matrix to the Windows clipboard and then paste the UID code into any Microsoft Windows-based application, such as CorelDraw, or many others. From there the Data Matrix can be resized and incorporated into a layout for laser engraving, etching, dot-peening, photometal processing, etc. using any marking/engraving program supported by Windows.
